Interesting stories of faith from 20 centuries of church history!
  MenoraChurch | Feb 4, 2024 |
Those who enjoy church history will enjoy this daily devotional filled with stories of faithful men and women who would not deny God even in the midst of persecution. While some stories will engage readers more than others, those stories may be different for different individuals. Evangelical Christians may enjoy saints' stories which find little place in their church's teaching. All stories remind one of the words of Revelation 2:10, "Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life." A topical index appears at the end. ( )

There is one devotional a day, which I liked because it didn’t feel intimidating. Each page gave you the title and story, the date, and the Bible verse or verses; no page numbers in this book. The story given for each day differs but all the stories direct you inward. They make you think about the person you just read and due to the story, you tend to spiritually inspect yourself. The verse at the end helps encompass the reading.

I enjoyed reading about the different accounts and learning more about Christ through those who have walked with Him. The stories are interesting enough to bring you back day after day and on some days it’s hard to read just one because you are drawn to the next day and what you will discover there.

The book also has a handy index at the end that separates the days into topics. This allows you to customize your read. For example, if you want to read about parenting then you can look in the index and read the days that talk about this subject. Since there was a topical index, it would have been nice to include the topic somewhere on each page to use as a reference. ( )

Morgan brings a delight to each calendar day of the year!

Refreshing and insightful short stories of heroes and heroines of Christianity. Most of long, long ago, but there are a few modern heroes thrown in as well.

I especially delighted in stories of John Wesley, Charles Spurgeon and John Wycliffe, to name but a few.

This book is an excellent companion for daily Bible study, home schoolers, family devitionals, and is appropriate for discussion around the dinner table and for all ages. A must for every home library!

I give this book my five star award as well as... my thumbs up award!
