I've never been so excited about a short story collection before, but this book made me seat at the edge of my seat, story after story. There were a couple of stories which felt boring, the one with air balloon thing is one of them. But overall this is an amazing collection ( ) I had never read Jack Finney before, but this caught my I at a used bookstore and eye decided to give it a try. Finney offers a distinctive voice...consistently blending time travel of one sort or another with a nostalgia for a gentler, simpler past. Most of these stories were entertaining, and a few were quite good. "Home Alone" (a.k.a "An Old Tune"), which recounts a surreal nighttime balloon ride in and about San Francisco, was my favorite. I work in a library and yesterday a customer and I ended up talking passionately about this wonderful short story collection. When I got home last night I pulled About Time off my book shelf and immersed myself in it for the first time in ages. What a wonderful, wonderful collection Jack Finney put together here. The charm and old-fashioned (but never dull or outdated!) appeal in his work just cannot be denied! :) Please read my full review here: http://realbooks4ever.tumblr.com/post/92248488614 sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
ContieneThe Other Wife por Jack Finney (indirecto)
About Time offers a delightful return to the world of time travel and light comedy that distinguished Jack Finney's all-time classic Time and Again. The protagonists of these twelve stories are well-meaning but at odds with their surroundings and their lives. The time to which they escape--through time travel--doesn't always fulfill their expectations in the way they had hoped, but sometimes, they can still find their dreams.
