The title explains it all, this book contains poems about dogs. There are various poems about all different breeds, from the perspective of the dog and the human, and about the things dogs do. While I may be biased because I have always loved dogs and been around dogs my entire life, I really liked this book. It takes you through many different emotions, some funny and goofy while some are more endearing and emotional. Anyone that is an animal lover or lover of dogs will really appreciate these poems, there were many that I was able relate back to my dog or a dog I have previously had. It also contains various styles of poetry which is nice and exposes the reader to different things. I was excited to read this one, because while I am not typically a fan of poetry, I am of dogs, so I was able to read something that appealed specifically to me. ( )

This book has twenty-three short poems about the life of a dogs using the different types. The author uses examples of a dogs everyday with treats, veterinarian experiences, and habits that many dogs have obtained over the years. The author doesn’t use much rhyming in the poems. My favorite poem in the book is “A Beagle Speaks of Noses,” I love how the author pin points of how dogs use their nose is their boss and not to be mad at them because they can’t help it. I was able to relate to these poems because I love and have always had one throughout my life. Dogs are truly a man’s best friend. ( )
