This book is a monograph on the birds of the North-Holland isle of Texel. The book is not very readable and should be treated as a reference work. For each bird species that has ever been spotted on the island there is a description.

As the island only took it's current shape and indeed became an island since approximately 600 years, and lies at some distance from urban centra, little historical documentation is available about the area, and the authors have only found two historical sources documenting bird life in the Eighteenth and late Nineteenth Centuries. All other data is from the period 1960 ~ 1970.

I have visited this island twice, which lies about 40 kilometres north of my hometown. ( )
