It uses no dice, but characters are defined by life points, four special skills, the items they have discovered and certain codewords gleaned from the pages of the book. The theme is moody: Earth is ice-ravaged and afflicted by a mad orbital computer. The book, which is dedicated to Jack Vance, attempts but does not uniformly achieve a 'Dying Earth' feel. There is nevertheless a different kind of Vancean feel to this work, so Dave Morris can still stand tall. The descriptions of the icy plains and strange future cities are excellent, the plot and pacing are good. I played it eight or nine times, with different characters until I reached a conclusion, and I was left thinking it was one of many. The structure is cleverly built so that different skills unlock different pathways, with frequently surprising results. I still feel I haven't explored every cranny of this gamebook, and that I wouldn't mind doing so. That's pretty good for a gamebook with a mostly linear plot. ( ) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
