It started off with a young boy who saved a star and had a great gift of happiness. Years later, he realized that he wanted to share his happiness and he made a pinata for all of the children in the village to take a swing at and get great gifts from him. ( ) SUMMARY: This book tells the tale of a man named Pancho who began the piñata tradition in San Miguel. On Christmas eve, people gather beside an old cactus in the square and swing at a piñata to get free gifts. REVIEW: This book is informative and the central message is to provide the reader with the thought to be history of the piñata tradition that is celebrated on Christmas eve. The pictures were cartoons and it was written as a story, which young readers would enjoy. Information and Spanish words were provided with the text.
