Young Russian Vladimir Petrovna is always minutes away from disaster. He is a Christian in a pagan country that exacts extreme penalties from believers. His farm is nearly destroyed by blight and he cannot pay the taxes he owes. And he is a husband and father of three whose daughter is secretly in love with a Cossack-one of the very soldiers who persecute families like Vladimir's. Though he may lose everything he loves, Vladimir must trust God as he navigates his river of trouble. When he finally arrives in the "land of the free and the home of the brave," his destiny-and faith-is changed forever. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

This story is about a young Russian named Vladimir Petrovna and all that took place in his life which led him and his family to the land of liberty. It takes place in the late 1800s, and early 1900s. Vladimir is a Christian in a pagan country that shows no mercy to the people or to their God. The family will end up fleeing their country with Cossacks chasing them down. One Cossack is the very soldier that fell in love with their one daughter. How God intervenes and helps this family through many heartaches and trials is a blessing to read. Their trust in the Lord and His provisions in their lives, even in the face of losing everything, made for a very well written story. Looking forward to reading more in this series.
(I also enjoyed learning more of the facts about the Statute of Liberty in the New York harbor and about all the people that passed through on that island is search of religious freedom and the opportunity for a better life for their families.) ( )
