I almost always find Reed's Great Ship stories confusing. Maybe if I read them in order, they'd make more sense, but I always feel like I'm missing something from a previous story. This one is no exception. Some kind of blob creature attacked and disabled the Great Ship hundreds of years ago. In the battle some humans got stranded on the surface of the ship and are in a kind of high tech refugee camp. The story is about a man whose mother was one of the heroes of the battle. The setting and character were interesting, but I'm not sure I understood where the story went or why. ( )
