What bothered me most about this book is the frequent use of the words "retards" and "retarded." I know people use those words, but it is a cruel and derogative word. I just felt the use of the word was uncalled for and other words could have been used. For the main character, Jen Lewis, to be so concerned about racial segregation and her own father being gay, she sure was blind to the fact that using the word "retard" is just as inflammatory and politically incorrect. Honestly, that is one of the reasons I gave the book 2 stars. Otherwise, it wasn't a bad book. The characters grew on me eventually and it was a cute read.
this book is amazing these are probably my favorite kind of books.i wish i could find more books like this
