The Share Our Strength organization works to eliminate hunger and its root causes. In this poetry collection, thirty-three poets join SOS in the food fight with poems ranging from a two word poem about ice cream, to salad haiku, to a poem about chocolate that will have you headed to the candy store. This wide collection also includes cultural food selections such as “Eating Crocodiles” by Pat Mora where she enjoys the delicacies of the neighborhood panaderia and “KumQuats” by Marilyn Singer where she enjoys her first real Chinese meal. These poems squash anyone's ideas about boring poetry. They are all well written and the watercolor illustrations by Michael J. Rosen compliment them beautifully. It was a fun read and a book I would like to add to my own collection. This would be a great book from which to read a daily poem before heading to the school lunchroom. You could even try to read one that relates to what is being served that day. Several poems could be read during classroom holiday parties. Reading “Christmas Cookies” would add to the merriment of icing holiday cookies and “Roasting Pumpkin Seeds” could be read during a fall party. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

This book contains poems on the authors' favorite food. This would be a good book to read to kids and have them wrote their own poems.
