Teaches perseverance. ( ) Excellent book to read aloud in 1st grade where beginning readers are emerging. Some children need a little extra help and say they do not like to read because they are struggling and do not know how to ask for the extra help or they are to shy to admit they are struggling. However, once they learn to read, most children love it. I actually bought this book to bring home with me over winter break and give to my nephew as one of his Christmas presents. My nephew is in Kindergarten and is currently being pulled out a half hour a day for extra help reading. He is struggling and instead of realizing that it is okay to struggle, he thinks that he hates reading because he is not good at it. I think he will be able to relate to this book a lot and it may help him gain some confidence. Many students would be able to relate to Henry in this story. Reading this book to a child may help them see that they are not the only one struggling with reading, or any other subject for that matter. They can also learn that it is possible to get help and learn from others. The illustrations are simple but help tell the story. Summary: Henry is in the 1st grade and the only thing he does not like about the 1st grade is reading. One day he was forced to finish a book for his little sister and found that he could put words together to make sentences and he finished a book. This gave Henry the confidence to read and from that point on, he began to volunteer to read in front of the classroom. Genre: Fantasy because Henry is a mouse that can read, talk, and go to school. Their teacher is a bear that is the same size as the mouse which is not realistic. Plot: The plot is a normal plot because it first explains the fact that Henry does not like to read. Then the climax where Henry is forced to read to his little sister and realizes that he can actually read. And then finishes with the resolution that Henry can and does enjoy reading. Media: Drawings, mixed media sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
Henry the mouse likes everything about first grade except reading, but with some extra help at school and home, he is delightfully surprised. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
