The ghosts make a bit of a racket, wanting to be in the film, and eventually Jeff agrees to share the spotlight in exchange for some ghostly special effects. In the end, everyone is happy and the movie is a success.
This book is entertaining, but some parts of the story ring a little sad for what is supposed to be an amusing kids tale. The poor ghosts have been there for one hundred years trapped in a basement, waiting to be recognized, which some of the third grade characters even seem to realize. While everything works out in the context of the story, the topic of an entire ghostly classroom of kids seems a bit somber for such a tale. Still, the book will be easy to read and should be interesting for children in this age range. ( )
