This is a story, but includes photos as a grandpa tells of his experiences with civil rights and the movement. Includes glossary Martian Luther King Jr. birthday is in a few days. Jamal's class is supposed to be thinking of something to do for the celebration. Jamal gets into a fight at school over a seat in the back of the bus. Jamal's grandfather is upset over the fight. He explains to Jamal that African American people had a really hard time in the 1950s'. And that Rosa Parks got arrested for sitting in the front of a bus. Jamal's father also tells him that when he was Jamal's age he heard Dr. King speak. Jamal finally begins to understand. When he goes back to school he tells his teacher his idea for the celebration. He wants the class to do a skit about two boys who get into a fight and don't understand about Dr. King. This story was very informational. And I think it could teach a classroom about Dr. King and what he has done for the American people. The class could discuss what they think about Martian Luther King Jr. And what the class would like to do for the celebration. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
