It wasn't as good as "Me and the Blondes" - some of that magic was lost here, but the voice of the protagonist is still the same, so I give it 2/5. ( ) Sophie is settled into a happy existence with her friends the Blondes - the popular girls at her school. But just as things seem smooth her father is released from prison, she becomes the repository of everyone's secrets, and she learns that friendship is not just about telling the truth, but about letting people hold you up when you need it. (spoilers) With Sophie's father's alcoholism, and Luke's relationship tragedy, this books isn't as light as the first book, but I thought it was stronger for it. The various Aunties provided comic relief and comfort, but this isn't a happily-ever-after ending, more of a what-doesn't-kill-you-makes-you-stronger. I think that the moral ambiguity of the situations adds a great deal to my sympathy for Sophie, who has very hard things to face. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

The enthralling sequel to Me and the Blondes, shortlisted for the Governor General's Award Life is almost ... well ... potentially perfect for Sophie Kandinsky. As it turns out, the Blondes were as dazzled by her as she was by them, and Sophie enters grade ten at Northern Heights smack in the centre of the power grid. There will be no more cascading lies and secrets from her, but the Blondes--now that's another story. And her eccentric Aunties are still peppering Sophie with their eccentric advice on life, love, and how to land the elusive Luke Pearson. But in the end, the best and biggest news is also the worst. After seven years, Sophie's beloved Papa is finally out of prison. Papa is home. Trouble is ... he's supposed to be dead. No more lies? No more secrets? "[Teresa Toten] writes with insight and compassion about the complex moral universe of adolescence." -- Quill & Quire "Toten captures perfectly the easy camaraderie of girls who trust each other enough to play Truth or Dare and challenge each other to develop into good people." --CM Magazine No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
