Most of the Amish fiction I read tends to portray only the devout and practicing Amish. Unforgiven focuses on a woman who was shunned for divorcing her husband and an Amish man who went to prison and is unbaptized. Seth Zimmerman went to prison for accidentally murdering an Amish man who was assaulting a woman. Tabitha Yoder was a young woman who married a monster. She was physically and emotionally abused constantly, but she left her husband for good after he beat her so bad she miscarried their baby. These two outcasts find they have a lot in common and start to grow closer. A slow burn with lots of interesting side stories and characters. I was rooting for Seth and Tabitha the whole way! I requested to read and review this book through the Revell Reads program. All thoughts are fully my own and freely given. I chose to review this book because I have enjoyed reading other books by Shelley Shepard Gray. This book was a bit disappointing. It seemed rather shallow to me. The characters were not fully developed and there wasn't much depth to them. The storyline was fine. It flowed well and it was something that could have happened. The story kept my interest but seemed to end too quickly. I give this a solid 3 out of 5-star rating and would recommend This was a good heartfelt read and I also love the cover! Tabitha has been ostracized by her Amish community even though her life was in danger. She has feared for her life the last few years and has gotten used to being alone. Her sister helps drop off groceries for her and Seth has been helping with minor things outside her home. Seth also one who has been looked down upon by his community knows who he really is and has learned to mostly ignore the rumors about him. He does what he can to help those in need and that includes Tabitha. She gets up the courage to approach Seth one of the times he is outside doing stuff, she has always wondered why? Why does he take time to help her when everyone else has nothing good to say about her? When her life once again is in danger, Tabitha realizes that maybe shutting herself away from everyone wasn't the best decision. When her life is once again in danger, she asks for help from a neighbor in hopes they will help her no matter what the community thinks. Once again she is in a life or death situation and the truth of what happened in her past and who her ex-husband really was and is, is finally seen by others. I really enjoyed this novel about not judging someone by their past or decisions, as often we don't have all of the information. I loved all the various characters and storyline of this novel. It flowed and read so well. It was a good heartfelt read with a little suspense. Thank you to the author and the Revell Blogger Program for the complementary novel. This review is of my own opinion and accord. This was a really well written book. The characters were believable and understandable. You knew why they did what they thought they needed to do even though you wish things were different. It is an emotional story and it really keeps you engaged and wondering what would I do in this situation. Seth and Tabitha have had past experiences in their lives that have followed them through their days. The story is one of trust, love, family, community and especially forgiveness which the title shows is not easily coming. The Christian aspects of the book come through and I enjoy and appreciate that in my reading. I received an arc copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
Ex-con Seth Zimmerman is making amends by helping the vulnerable in his former Amish community. This mission includes calling on Tabitha Yoder, who was shunned after divorcing her abusive husband. An uneasy friendship is just taking hold when Tabitha's ex-husband returns--and he's willing to do anything to get her back. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

I enjoyed this story. It is interesting to read of how people thought of Tabitha after her divorce and Seth after his prison sentence. Both were formally Amish and just the act of trying to stay alive was looked down on. I enjoyed how Seth’s sister still looked up to him and how she struggled gaining her parent’s approval of her boyfriend. The story shows how Tabitha and Seth pay the price for what has been done to them. It is interesting to see how Tabitha’s brother in law has limited the time her sister can spend with her. This story does touch on physical abuse in a relationship.
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review. ( )
