A book from the Sentinels series. The Sentinels become involved in keeping a Middle East oil supply out of the hands of greedy countries that have no concern over the people who live there. It also goes into the story of the people who live there improving the lives of people who live there and for generations to come. It is based on true facts. I received this book through LT for my honest review. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. I thought it was the first book of a trilogy but soon realized it was the first book of a second trilogy. I’m not sure if I missed a lot not reading the first trilogy, but I definitely felt like I was behind the 8 ball from the start. My other major issue was with the dialogue and inner monologues, no one I know talks or thinks like that, it’s just not the way normal people converse. I realized near the end of the book that the tenses didn’t match, i.e. talking about the past using present tense verbs, but I’m not sure if that was the issue through the whole book, it was just clunky. Needless to say, I won’t be picking up the first trilogy or the rest of the second. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. 3.5 stars rounded up for a historical fiction book that sometimes had missing words, and stilted or ungrammatical language. This was an uncorrected proof sent to me by Wise Media Group through LibraryThing. I believe that these errors will be corrected in the final published version. One quote, p.256"Stepping back to back to see her reaction, he surprises [her} when she says{?} "David Marcus, I recognize you when you first appear." The book is about a group of powerful people who band together to start a humanitarian project in Iran, irrigating what was formerly desert, and taking on foreign powers who seek to use their land for selfish purposes. There is an actual historical fact in the book, i.e. the overthrow of the democratically elected government of Iran in 1953, by British and American spies. In the book, the CIA spy is Kermit Roberts. The actual CIA officer was Kermit Roosevelt, grandson of President Theodore Roosevelt. This overthrow of that government has led to Iran being governed by an extreme right theocracy today. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Secondly, the story skips a lot. For instance, one of the main characters goes home to an Israeli kibbutz, get involved with a shoot out while guarding the kibbutz, then flys to Iran a few days later. Really?? Next thing you know, this woman is an education specialist setting up advanced studies for the children in settlements being developed in the Iranian desert. No hint given prior to the announcement that she even knows anything about educational systems. I just found the whole story pretty far fetched and poorly written. Stopped reading half way through.
