A solid, if slightly forgettable, adaptation, highlighting and making use of many of the (to me) more memorable aspects of the original story, but usually failing to really push them and elevating them in the new medium. Cast is quite good, too, with solid child acting, even if the parents steal the show: Jason Isaacs is absolutely terrific in the dual role as the hapless father and the cruel Hook, and Olivia Williams captures Mrs. Darling's famous mysterious-yet-warm incarnation of motherhood to a degree I'd be hard pressed to expect a human being to manage. The Darling family children receive a visit from Peter Pan, who takes them to Never Never Land where an ongoing war with the evil Pirate Captain Hook is taking place. Rated PG for adventure action sequences and peril
