This was The Little Mermaid all grown up with a sapphic twist. I got so wrapped up in this story from the start. The imagery is vivid enough to drop you into the story, transporting you to another time and place. I loved Faeryn right away, she's had a hard life, but she's strong, smart, and determined, and has a big heart despite the way she's treated by the villagers. Zale was wonderful, and her love of all things human and curiousity about them is what reminded me of Ariel. Being able to see the story from both POV gave it more depth, as they each have an extremely unique way of looking at things. The story moved along smoothly with no lulls, and it's hard to put down once you start, so make sure you set aside a few hours to read it! ( )
