This is an extraordinary work. It really does give a different take on SF first contact stories. The aliens are totally relatable, yet totally different to us. The author has done a great job of making them so extraordinary yet keeping our sympathies firmly aligned with them. A riveting read with a good ending. ( )

This is a strange book but I enjoyed it ( )

It is difficult to categorize. It is about “aliens” but more in the sense of strange and not extraterrestrials. But above all it deals with feelings: love, hate, especially to what is different, unity, sacrifice, ... The ending seems to me a bit good-natured.

I received the book through the Early Reviewers program and I'm glad I did. The idea of the book is interesting and feels quite 'fresh', though something about the writing style felt a bit off/unfinished to me at times. In the end, it was a quick and nice read, but probably not a reread for me. ( )

This book has a very interesting idea and well written, with aliens crash-landing on Earth and how humans would react to meeting life-forms from outside this planet. It also explores growing up in challenging times and families working together in trying times.
Even though it had a great idea and the story was very captivating, for me it felt slow in certain parts. The story started off strong, but it starts to slow down after a bit. It also felt like the characters started to melt together after a while and it was hard to tell a difference between them. ( )
