This is a very good introduction to Helen Keller and also to the concepts of being blind and deaf.
I would have students try being either blind or deaf in the classroom. Students could either be blinded or wear earplugs and have other students speak very quietly. I think this would help them understand how difficult life could be with these impairments. ( )
