This book is definitely intended for the younger end of the YA spectrum, in my opinion, I say this because it is a bit predictable and very abrupt. The characters go from hating each other one minute to being totally in love the next. This book was pretty short, and not too bad for a light romance. The writing style of the author is very recognizable to me as well, I have read another book by her and the tone seemed similar. Anyway, if you are a young teen, I really think you would like this book. ( )

Aside for the distracting typos in this book - I loved it! Got me from the first page. The characters of Jenn and John were very believable and the romantic tension between them kept me turning the pages. A great read. ( )

John and Jen had been neighbors forever and were once best friends. But somehow after middle school they grew apart with John becoming the ultra popular, ultra cute track star and Jen remaining in the student body of mediocrity. However, when John and Jen find themselves playing Romeo and Juliet in their senior year their relationship changes again and they are caught between being friends, strangers and something else entirely.

This story centered around a production of Romeo and Juliet which, surprisingly, I have never read and/or seen. So, I really enjoyed the way the author worked in the quotes from the play. I also liked how the different aspects of putting together a production were made a part of the story. John and Jen were great characters and were both easy to relate to. John in particular was a very sympathetic character, especially once when we got a look into the why of his being so driven to achieve which ultimately is what made him popular. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone interested in a cute, semi-sweet story of romance and friends becoming something more. ( )

4 out of 5 stars!!! I LOVED the chemistry between Jen & John!! Plus, finding out how close they were growing up it is kind of surprising they ever stopped being friends, but it does happen. You will be routing for them the whole way! I couldn't put it down. Great Book!!

She looked into his eyes, nearly tasted his breath he was so close. Jennifer's gaze dropped to John's lips, full and glistening. He was utterly focused on her, as if nobody else mattered, as if they were alone. As if this moment wasn't real, but a dream. But it was real. And real was being watched by a bunch of panting hormonal teenagers and one very demanding director.
