A contemporary romance retelling of Hades and Persephone, in which they both work for the same magazine publishing company. He’s head of finance, down in the basement, and she’s a new intern. I enjoyed this. Perhaps it doesn’t offer everything I want in a contemporary romance, but it was a good I’m-home-in-bed-sick distraction -- and because I was sick, I didn’t feel a need to think analytically about it. A charming revisioning of the Persephone tale as a modern-world romance. Demeter here is a narcissistic mother Persephone needs to get away from but keeps getting drawn back to; Persephone is an aspiring designer; Hades is an acrophobic co-owner of the fashion magazine Persephone's got an internship in. From a bumbling meet-cute, romance blooms. The characters are adorable; the side characters promise further adorable romances in the series. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

I liked how so many familiar names (with sometimes “updated” characters) appeared in the modern setting and behaved much as we might imagine (or extrapolate). Admittedly, I kept expecting them to manifest godly powers, which they didn’t. At most, they appeared larger than life, but that worked well in the environment of a big media corporation.
I’ll be keeping an eye out for more from this author :)
