I'm the absolute last remaining single woman in the entire town of Bordeaux. Okay, maybe not the very last. Just the last one with all her teeth, natural hair color, and the ability to remember where I set my keys. I decided years ago that I'm going to remain single until my dying day. I'll infuse a new, hip meaning into the term "old cat lady." I don't need a man. I've got my bulldog, my cats, and some of the best friends in the world. My cup's not half-full-It's overflowing. My man-free life is going along fine until the day I walk into my new job as a part-time tutor to the daughter of the new doctor in town. The sight of this man is making my skin tingle and my breath hitch, and something very much like butterflies are erupting in my stomach. Butterflies! I don't do butterflies over a man. My reaction doesn't mean I need to change my stance on men. After all, Grant's a broody, stern, cantankerous man. If I were going to start dating, it certainly wouldn't be someone who obviously hasn't smiled since he was forced to for school pictures. But then his daughter walks in the room, and his face lights up. That smile. Who knew swooning was a real thing? Still, I'm not dating. And that's final.… (más)

Doctorshipped is another wonderful addition to the Getting Shipped! series. The audio book is, like the other books in the series, wonderfully narrated by the dual narrators who are a joy to listen to in all of the stories.

This is such a fun series, with a great group of friends! I have now read (listened to) three books in the series in order from book three through book five. I love getting to visit with previous couples while focusing on the new couple in the current book. However, even if you haven’t read any other books in the series, you can hop in and enjoy this one just fine.

I loved the way Jayme and Grant were pulled toward each other and felt the zing of interest for each other even when they didn’t think they wanted to be together. At the beginning of the story, these two seemed like such opposites (and they were in many ways), however, there was a lot more to Grant than simply being a grump. There were hints to his true heart in the way he treated his daughter, the amazing Fiona, as well as the way he treated Jayme on the flight and even in the airport once they had landed. As the book progressed, it was so sweet to see the way Jayme affected Grant and the way she made his heart come alive.

The author did a great job of growing a relationship between these two, showing the reader the specific insecurities that each character struggled with, and presenting a crisis that they needed to navigate. This was a slow burn romance that was a joy to listen to.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own. ( )

“We treasure the things we work hard for. And we work hard for the things we treasure.“

I LOVED this book! Every book I’ve read or listened to by Savannah Scott has become an instant favorite and Doctorshipped even more so. I have to admit I love the brooding, grumpy hero and Grant Pepper is that and more! The chemistry between him and Jayme leapt off the page. I adored the grumpy/sunshine romance, the witty sparing, and the crazy situations they find themselves in (Brooks and the painting scene comes to mind.) along with the beloved residents of Bordeaux.

Jayme is a fantasy romance writer trying to get a contract with a big publisher. After a bad breakup, she’s sworn off men and embraced single life. A chance encounter at the airport with a grumpy doctor and his young daughter leaves a lasting impression on all of them. When he turns out to be the town’s new doctor and interviews Jayme to be Fiona’s new tutor, the sparks fly.

Grant is not looking for love. After his wife’s cancer diagnosis, he and Fiona were left alone to deal with the painful aftermath. Hoping for a fresh start, Grant accepts a position as the new doctor for Bordeaux. Little does he realize what he’s in for and all the eccentric patients he’s just inherited. The new tutor though has the potential to change his views on a lot of things. Her sunshiny personality is a balm for both him and Fiona, but will this perpetual grump be willing to open himself up to Jayme, or risk losing her?

I loved these two! Grant is the handsome grump you just can’t help but want to tease, and Jayme does. From her Dr. Pepper jokes to her playful ribbing, it’s hard for Grant not to fall for her. I also loved the fact that she’s shorter and curvier than most heroines, whom Grant dubs his fierce pixie. The secret Grant keeps from her has the potential to break them apart and I loved the “thrilling” (iykyk) grand gestures he attempts to win her back.

The audiobook version was pure perfection! The narrators did a fantastic job bringing all these characters to life. I appreciated the depth of emotion and humor they put into their performances Holy cow, listening to Grant’s narration melted my heart!. I don’t always love children in books, but Fiona is adorable. I appreciated that the author and narrators were true to her age and intelligence and didn’t make her sound babyish.

This fantastic, clean romcom is definitely one you’ll want on your must read or listen to list! It’ll have you laughing, smiling, swooning, and even shedding a tear or two. Highest of recommendations! Though it’s the fifth book in the Getting Shipped series, it could be read as a standalone, but does contain spoilers for previous books. I received an advanced audiobook copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own and voluntarily given. ( )

Doctorshipped by Savannah Scott
Getting Shipped series #5. Contemporary romantic comedy. Can be read as a stand-alone. Grumpy sunshine troupe.
Jayme feels like she’s the last single person in Bordeaux. She handles her multiple jobs with dexterity and joy. She has a goal. Accepting a tutoring job for the new doctor and his daughter has Jayme feeling a bit smitten. Maybe her man-free declaration was premature.

Adorably charming.
🎧 I listened to an audiobook version narrated by Amy McFadden and Will Damron in alternating chapters. These two perform with a wonderful amount of humor and drama. You can’t help falling in love just listening to their voices. Each has a distinct male / female variance but I feel McFadden did a better job with Fiona, the daughter. The timing is impeccable and the heart of the story comes through clearly.
I listened is story at 1.5 speed which is my most comfortable for conversational comfort.

I loved the ways Jayme came up with learning techniques for dyslexia and gave positive reinforcement. I also loved how Grant was a softer version of himself worth his daughter.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media. ( )
