USA Today bestselling author Stacy Reid's addictive tale of two lost people who are found . . . by each other London is buzzing with the news that James Winters, the Duke of Wulverton-thought lost at sea a decade ago-survived in the harsh wilderness of the Yukon. Now he's been returned to his family, his responsibilities, and a nightmarish world of artifice and noise. He has three weeks to become a refined, elegant duke for the Queen . . . or doom the entire family to ruin and scandal. Promising psychologist Jules Southby knows a lot about disguises. She's secretly been living as a boy since birth, enjoying the freedoms of men and knowing little about how to behave like a woman. When she meets the alluring duke, she's unprepared for his raw, masculine beauty and icy intelligence . . . or that he can see through her darkest secret. Jules has very little time to transform the duke into a true semblance of an English gentleman. Yet his very presence seems to unravel her in every way. Their attraction is stark and achingly real-and forbidden. But loving the lost duke would mean losing every sacrifice she's made to earn her freedom . . . Contains mature themes.… (más)

Atypical hero and a truly novel upbringing for the heroine make this romance a breath of fresh air. ( )

Well this was absolutely delicious. One of Stacy’s previous books had a dumb meal lead that didn’t get magically cured and that book is honestly a favorite. In this book, our male lead also has a disability except its not one that is so immediately apparent. After surviving 10 years in the wilderness living with wolves (yes, you read that right LOL), James is back to society and having lots of difficulty. Enter Jules a woman who has lived a lie all her life and man, do the sparks fly.

I really enjoy Stacy Reid’s writing. I loved all the intricate details she put in these characters. I like how James’s things didn’t all get magically cured by the ‘power of love’ and also enjoyed his visceral reactions. I absolutely adored how he gave no effs to society. Jules story was so far out that it made me laugh. It also made me very angry at her mom.

Nonetheless Stacy made the outlandish plot and I thoroughly enjoyed the book.
Huge thank you to Entangled and NetGalley for the ARC. ( )

Basically a spicy Tarzan & Jane meets She’s The Man but make it historical. ( )

A few times the characters were ridiculously, stupidly reckless, and I felt like 'you've *got* to be kidding me'. And it seemed like their feelings went at a slow crawl but mostly attraction, right up until the end and then suddenly it was everything. I would have preferred if it had been steadier overall, or if they'd just come to their senses a bit quicker. BUT, there were some very romantic parts, and both characters were generally likable besides those few brainless lapses. So all said, I liked it more than I didn't. ( )

The heroine has been disguised as a boy since birth due to her mother's choice. Due to that, she had benefited from the disguise and is now a promising psychologist, assisting her father at his work. This is when the disguised heroine meets the hero, who had been lost for a decade in the wilderness and has returned to civilization. However, the hero had lived in such a way that if he doesn't change his ways, his family may end up ruined. The heroine and the hero are attracted to each other, and both must make decisions that will determine their future in society and with each other.

This is an entertaining Stacy Reid book. This historical romance features an interesting twist to the couple's journey towards their happy ending. I enjoyed how the heroine is coping as a disguised person and how the hero changed the downtrodden path the heroine's life was going towards with his appearance. I also liked how the hero grew in this story and how he persevered in the society that he returned to. It would have been nice to have some more details in certain areas of the story to enrich them, but the overall story is still entertaining. Also, some secondary characters deserved futures relative to their actions in my eyes. Still an enjoyable Stacy Reid book.

** Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy. All opinions and thoughts in the review are my own. ** ( )
