So one of the worst things about epic fantasy is that there are too many characters, too many plots, too many different creatures, and too many factions, whether political, religious, or simply geographical. This book had all of that, and it was glorious.

I didn't know what to expect getting into this, and to be honest, I had to relisten to the first hour several times because I kept confusing the characters, but once I figured it out, it was non-stop action, and I loved it. It was glorious. Did I already say that? Well, good. Because Andrew Meredith deserves it for his amazing writing.

Like his other series, the characters in this book were wonderfully written, and I came to care about all of them. From caravan guides, to paladins, to fantastic beasts (which I suppose I didn't care about quite as much, but were still wonderfully written), there was a lot going on. And the setting and world-building was so beautiful, I want to go live there, although, I think I need to learn how to fight first, otherwise, I probably wouldn't survive, but it would be worth it. It's that good!

I can't recommend Andrew Meredith's books enough. And I can't wait to see what happens in the next part of the saga. ( )
