Rediscover God as natural, pure and essential. What do you love about Jesus? That question may bring you to fall in love again with God all over again. That’s the purpose of the The Organic God (2007, re-issued as e-book in 2009 and now promoted again to bloggers and reviewers like me) by popular speaker, author Margaret Feinberg. God, stripped of all pollutants and additives of this world. This book explores God’s nature by largely digging into Feinberg’s own personal stories (Jewish ancestors, youth, marriage to Norwegian Leif, life in Alaska, interactions with her audiences). His wisdom, generosity, infallibility, beauty, big heart, kindness, stubbornness, talking and mysterious moves. “Like an organic farmer, he is able to use the poopy parts of life as rich soil for growing the fruit of the spirit in us.” Quoting from Proverbs to point the everyday lessons, 1 Corinthians 13 for the mirror in which we see God’s glory still blurred today, prophecies from Isaiah, without serving a academic sound theology. Instead, the book’s merely a personal reflection from a journey of faith to share with you. An invitation to draw closer, read your Bible again and undo yourself from lenses, paradigms, or other distorted views on God’s nature, without losing your human nature. Of course, there are the why questions, unanswered prayers and yet unsaved relatives, fears and failures. “Maybe that’s why the Bible says perfect love casts out fear. The closer we get to his love and the more we experience his bigheartedness, the more the fear diminishes until we are captivated by him and no longer captive to fear.” A suggested playlist of theme songs, and rainy day reflections (study questions) are added. Let the hunger for God live on. ( )
