The Calling: A Supernatural Faith-Based Suspense Thriller is the first book in The Calling series by new author Regional Cook. The book follows events in the lives of 7 chosen people of God and the temptations they face from minions of the devil. There is a a lot of action and adventurer in this never-ending battle of good versus evil. I enjoyed the plot, but I feel that the version of the book I read needs further editing which makes it tough to read at times. I received a copy of this book from LibraryThing’s Early Reviewers program. ( )Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. This book was a difficult read for me. I think it definitely could have used another round of editing/reviewing in regards to sentence length and structure. There were MANY long sentences full of descriptions dumping at once, followed by very short sentences afterwards and it didn't flow well for me. That with the forced feeling analogies and similes made parts of the book feel childish. While its definitely a good story, and has enjoyable parts and characters, this one wasn't for me. Seven flawed individuals, some with criminal pasts, broken or struggling marriages and history of substance abuse, accept God into their hearts and as part of their daily lives.
Soon they receive the gift to heal the sick, raise the dead and cast out demons. Except for the youngest member, a ten year old boy named Carl, they question their worthiness, until they come to accept the good their gift can do for mankind.
During their struggles not only must they contend with “doubting Thomases” but followers of businessman Everest (Lucifer in disguise) and his demons who at every turn are ready to harm God’s Seven and their families. Gabriel and his team of angels of light work to protect these seven precious individuals from Lucifer and his dark forces.
At the end of The Calling, the battle of good winning over evil has been won, but the never ending war between light and dark forces continues as Everest and his team of demonic servants promise to be back to cause more harm and havoc in the next instalment of this series.Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. This was a really good book. Like how the characters were introduced to us. I also enjoyed how the author used animal characteristics and actions to describe different scenes and feeling. Each short chapter introduces a character who undergoes a miracle, and then the author brings them together. Full of action and transformations. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
