Growing up, I was a huge fan of Roald Dahl. I enjoyed his themes of good things happening to good little kids and bad things happening to the insufferable/vain ones and ones who were cruel to animals. Plus, he was just a darn good storyteller.

Without spoiling anything, the themes of this story reminded me of Roald Dahl in all of the right ways. Needless to say, I loved it. Bought the first book for my niece, and we read it together. We did the same with this one, and it was such great fun each night to read a chapter together. It was something we both looked forward to.

The pace is quick and just right for kids. The story has a moral, without feeling heavy-handed. There was a feel-good vibe to the book, which is nice during this tough time for the world. And we absolutely fell in love with Tilly. We will be buying the entire series! ( )
