Fiction. Romance. Humor (Fiction.) HTML:A refreshingly modern fairy tale and instant New York Times bestseller that Love Hypothesis author Ali Hazelwood hails as "an uplifting, feel-good, romantic read."
After a wild bet, gourmet grilled-cheese sandwich, and cuddle with a baby goat, Alexis Montgomery has had her world turned upside down. The cause: Daniel Grant, a ridiculously hot carpenter who??s ten years younger than her and as casual as they come??the complete opposite of sophisticated city-girl Alexis. And yet their chemistry is undeniable.
While her ultra-wealthy parents want her to carry on the family legacy of world-renowned surgeons, Alexis doesn??t need glory or fame. She??s fine with being a ??mere? ER doctor. And every minute she spends with Daniel and the tight-knit town where he lives, she??s discovering just what??s really important. Yet letting their relationship become anything more than a short-term fling would mean turning her back on her family and giving up the opportunity to help thousands of people.
Bringing Daniel into her world is impossible, and yet she can??t just give up the joy she??s found with him either. With so many differences between them, how can Alexis possibly choose between her world and his?

Seriously, Abby Jimenez does not disappoint. I read this book in just about one sitting, staying up way too late on a busy, end-of-school-year night. It was that good—not even strong teacher-sleep-exhaustion could make me stop turning pages. And as I kept falsely promising myself “One more chapter,” I realized that my cheek muscles hurt because of the goofy grin permanently plastered to my face. Reading it is just plain goodness—you can’t help smiling, something we all need a little more of.

Alexis, an ER doctor from a pretentious medical dynasty, thinks she’s just passing through little, podunk Wakan on her way back to big-city life. But when she swerves to miss a raccoon, she and her Mercedes wind up in a ditch, leading to a series of humorous and honest events that have her questioning whether she belongs more to this world than the one where all her obligations and expectations live.

4.5 Stars. This book had me belly laughing and cringing at different points. Cute realistic moments kept the story going. ( )

This is my first read by the author and I couldn’t put it down. I enjoy romance stories but this one was so much more. Alexi Montgomery, a doctor, gets stuck in a small town and meets Daniel Grant and sparks fly. They are from two entirely different worlds but they cannot keep away from one another and fall in love. How do two people go through life without each other? Or do you somehow find a way to make it work. I look forward to reading more from this author. ( )

Audiobook - two good narrators.

This is a weird one for me. I read it quickly and can’t say that I didn’t enjoy it BUT I found the central roadblock in this one incredibly silly. I wish there was less reliance on “wow! He’s so good at sex” / bolt from the blue / love at first sight / “the town wants what it wants” and more of actually showing why these two fell in love. It’s most left to you filling in the blanks after the author tells you that they spent five hours talking on the phone.

I also think it’s good that the story illustrates different kinds of abuse in a non-
lecture type of way that might actually pass on useful information to women so they can recognize it in their own life or the lives of their friends and internalize some possible strategies in a more subtle way than a PSA on TV.

I think the author is setting up the foundations for a bunch of books here too which is mildly annoying to me. ( )
