Summary: There was a shoemaker and his wife who were very poor. They were so poor that he only had enough money to make one more pair of shoes. He cut the leather out and left it to finish the next day. The next morning the shoes were finished and well made. The next night he had cut out leather for two shoes and the next morning the shoes were complete. Each day this number doubled until the cobbler and his wife decided to stay up and see who was making the shoes. They discovered they were naked dwarfs. They wife and cobbler were pleased with the dwarfs and made them some clothes and tiny shoes. The next night the dwarfs were pleased with the gift and left to never be seen again. The cobbler and his wife had good fortune the rest of their lives.
Reaction: This ended leaves the reader to reason “why”. Why do the dwarfs leave? Is it because the gift is no longer anonymous, or because the couple is no longer in need? The dwarfs are pleased with their clothes, but choose that time to leave and never return.
Activity: Students need to do something nice “act of kindness” for a fellow student that week, but keep it completely anonymous. This will be written and given to the teacher. ( )
