I really like the art though. (Another project! I'm trying to read all the picture books and graphic novels on the kids section of NPR's Books We Love 2022.) This dreamy, sweet poem is illustrated with different families in everyday scenes, from bathtime and bedtime to walking through fall leaves, stargazing, playing cards on a rainy day, and welcoming a new baby to the family. Cute endpapers have a white background patterned with items from the story's illustrations (a yellow umbrella, a paper airplane, a playing card, a leaf, a butterfly, etc.). Soothing and inclusive, this has family favorite bedtime story written all over it. See also: World So Wide, I Love You As Big As the World, A Family Is A Family sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Premise/plot: Picture book poem. This picture book--beautifully illustrated--celebrates families and unconditional love.
My thoughts: I can be a harsh critic when it comes to rhyming picture books. This one was beautiful. It wasn't too 'precious' [aka saccharine]. The narrative was packed with imagery. I liked seeing all the many different scenes from life. I like the vignettes of different families. This isn't the story of one family--one parent, one child. It is broader and more universal than that. ( )
