The 21st century church is on a collision course with the homosexual culture - and love requires the church to respond like Jesus did. Mark Abshier, Pastor of MacArthur Park Church of Christ in San Antonio shares, "...this issue cannot be approached one-dimensionally, that is, to declare it to be sin but go no further. Homosexuality is sin, and that is a starting point. But the Great Commandment and the Great Commission compel us to do more." It is no longer enough for the church to oversimplify the Biblical references on this subject, and use them to reject and exclude an entire segment of society from a loving relationship with the One who created and loves them. There's too much at stake, and it demands we take a comprehensive look at what the Bible says about the sin of homosexuality in light of the sin that so easily entangles us - The Acceptable Sin.… (más)

William Huckaby offers one viewpoint—a more pastoral viewpoint than some offer—for dealing with those who experience themselves to be sexually attracted largely, if not exclusively, to persons of the same sex as themselves. Although Huckaby employs somewhat problematic translations of the "Clobber Passages" of the Bible, traditionally used to shame and suppress homosexual behavior in society—English translations which fail to reflect adequately the nuance present in the original languages of these texts, he nevertheless possesses enough Scriptural knowledge and personal honesty to approximate an Orthodox Christian phronema or ethos regarding the subject of homosexual sin. Surprisingly, he is able to approximate a more Orthodox pastoral mindset despite his Protestant fundamentalist context and lack of important historical and linguistic knowledge needed to address the topic from a more knowledgeable standpoint. The sensibility Huckaby brings forth leads organically into an Orthodox approach of οἰκονομία, "economy," for pastoring those with whom same-sex attraction emerges instinctively. ( )
