Wade is a veteran who come home from war with a lot of physical and emotional scars. He is angry, defensive, and crabby as he tries to navigate a world different than he thought he would have. Jesse is a physical therapist who ends up working with Wade and gets right under Wade's skin. Jesse is calm, patient, and understanding, not to mention utterly gorgeous. He is the perfect person to help Wade see that life isn't always horrible. He shows Wade what it could be to live again, and that scares the heck out of Wade.
This book really made my heart happy. The characters were well written and I was given enough surface information about them to really connect with them and root for Wade to pull through his dark times.
My only complaint with this book is that it was way too short. I wish I saw more about them after Wade's drop to rock bottom. I want to see them succeed and I want to see their struggles. I want to see Wade with his parents. I want to see Wade with Jesse's mom. I want to see Wade live an amazing life with Jesse. I just want more. I hope the author decides to give them more pages. ( )
