This was just alright. It read much like the first book but the funny? parts fell flat. ( )

Beale was an absolute love, and I’m glad that he and Toby understood and accepted each other (which was good as Toby rather annoyed me). Even with lots of secrets, they really were perfect for each other; it just took some angsting toward the end for their HEA. Of course I’m heading into the next book since the thread has been dangling throughout, and I’m needing to find out how this trilogy wraps up. ( )

Outstanding.

Great main characters. Great banter, both dialogue and internal. Great conflicts, some of the best setup and execution I've read in any romance.

Also? This novel contains the best blowjob scene I have ever read anywhere. And it is specifically because it could only happen between these two characters.

Unreservedly recommended. ( )

I really like smalltown communities in books
This made me laugh out loud on several occasions
I enjoy on the commentary on Beale's interests and how people have been treating him
Bonus points for murder cat
- I'm not a big fan of hyper-active, in your face characters
- Michael Dean (the audio narrator) really took Toby's personality up to the next level (wasn't a big fan), maybe I should have read this as an ebook
- The plot was really predictable, and the whole reasn for Toby being in Whisperin Key was all kinds of ridiculous ( )

Beale was one of my favourite characters in the first book, so I was chuffed to see him get his own story here. He's a glorious character, misunderstood by those who claim him as family and friend, but Toby comes into his life and suddenly Beale is seen. Toby is an outwardly prickly, dismissive character who is hiding a truly caring nature.
Fake boyfriends.
In hiding.
Big misunderstanding.
Practice relationship turns real.
I'm really loving this series. I'm hoping for Young Rafe and Jayd's story now. ( )
