When life seems hopeless do you give up or forge on and cling to your hope? First, I loved that the story takes place during hard times like we all have been at the beginning of this year. Things got crazy, people were scared, the crazies came out in full force, and a lot of people were filling like Hope was and that was what do I now when everything I worked hard for was taken away just by not being able to stay open? Hope found herself wondering around lost and in drunken daze wondering how her new restaurant was taken away by this pandemic and she is stuck in a weird funk. As she continues to drink and ponder the direction of her life, she falls asleep in her dad’s old car where when she wakes up the next morning a stranger is driving and they both have a flip out moment. This had me laughing because it was such a cute way for the main characters to meet and be introduced to us readers. Needless to say there was a mix-up when she fell into the car because it had already been sold to our broody hero JR. JR had been through so much, betrayed, missed so much of life around him, and now that he is out he is determined to seek his own justice. My heart broke for him because of all the crap life had thrown at him and caused him to be jaded but when he meets Hope he tries so hard to focus on his main goal and not the attraction that they have. The road trip aspect they go on with JR’s brother Scout was so much fun to readd about and they do go through so much that they end up learning so much about each other. This book had me routing for justice and mad at the injustice that JR endured, but also reminded me to always have hope. I loved all the characters, the storyline, their ups and downs, but I also loved the bonds that were formed. I cannot wait for Scout’s story because I know it will be amazing as he is. If you’re looking for a broody hero, a sweet lovable heroine, and a fun-loving sibling that go on a a trip of a lifetime and learn so much about themselves and each other then I highly suggest this great read.
