This is a romance that will tug at your heart strings, and remind you why hope is so important. Jackson has written another beautiful Christian romance, with flawed characters that rely on their faith and each other to make it through tough times. I was a little disappointed we didn’t get more of the story between Mark getting rejected by Jessica and he and Pam marrying. That said, the story has plenty of tension, and situations that a real-life couple might face. (If you’re looking for a romance where everything falls into place neatly, this isn’t the read for you). I enjoyed watching Mark and Pam grow as individuals and as a couple, as the story is really driven by them. Great for Christian romance lovers! From the beginning of the second chapter of The Confident Hope, I realized that Pamela and Mark have a lot of growing up to do. Their return to reality exposes some ugliness of character in both of them from the passive aggressive way they deal with disagreements to the selfishness Mark exhibits. Even when they seek advice from others, they don’t follow through. However, since those flaws were exposed so early in the book, I wanted to follow along as this couple grew. And they do. They realize that marriage is a partnership that requires communication and compromise. E. C. Jackson delves into the difficult challenges couples face in order to create a successful marriage. She does so not only through Mark and Pamela’s marriage but also through those of their family members. The Confident Hope is a cautionary tale of what happens when you allow feelings to fester or ignore the problems but also gives hope of righting the course for a lifelong future together. Disclosure statement: I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own. What I think you should know: The Confident Hope, an inspirational romance by E.C. Jackson is the fourth book in Series. It is a standalone book and the storyline is not connected to other books in the series. What I think about this book: I am so glad Pam loved Mark because I sure didn't, being raised as a single child is no excuse for not caring about your friends.Mark entered marriage without loving his wife the way that a husband should. However Pam was not without fault in the story, she went into the marriage with blinders on and when they came off she was determined to continue her marriage but did not seem to demonstrate true forgiveness. It was hard to watch them work to navigate a marriage that started off with a disaster. While I do not consider this a traditional romance it is an interesting read with lessons that are worth learning. do think that it was a unique story. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own. Imagine being in love with someone who fails to see you. This exact thing happens to Pamela. She fell in love with Mark, but he believes he loves someone else. But when that other someone turns him down, he flees to the one person who listens always. Add in a set of divorced parents for Pam along with Mark’s strained relationship with his parents, and the story gets interesting. Plus, there are some additional fun twists to this story. I love how the author examines the importance of open and honest communication along with recognizing what truly matters. So check out this book for yourself.
