"We all have areas of our lives that make us feel disorganized, unprepared, and stressed out. Wouldn't it be great to have one book that told you how to solve all of those problems in one place? Whether you need advice on how to end an argument, iron a shirt, decide on dinner, or keep your weekend plans straight, Erin Zammett Ruddy has spoken to experts like Rachael Ray, Dr. Oz, Ariana Huffington, and many more, and condensed their wisdom into easy to follow steps. Divided into sections like Morning Routine, Household Chores, Managing Your Calendar, and Presenting Well At Work, The Little Book of Life Skills offers simple strategies for being better grown-ups, and is the perfect gift for anybody who wants to get organized, be more efficient throughout the day, and finally learn the best way to fold that's fitted sheet"--… (más)

Not only practical, but at times inspirational, advice - from how to make your bed and empty the dishwasher to how to get yourself through a tough time to how to set goals.

I was put off at first by the makeup chapters early on, not only because they presume a female reader (no one said this was going to be a chick book) but because of the level of make-up use they assume. "Do your highlighter after you've put on the rest of your makeup" - WTF is highlighter?

But there are always going to be chapters here and there that an individual has no use for. For example, not everyone works an office job, or a job at all; and some bits are not so much practical how-to as how-to-motivate-yourself-to. There are people who really don't empty their dishwasher for days? But then how do you run it again? Whatever. Most of the chapters would be a good read for most anybody.

I loved:
- Send an effective email
- Make your point
- Write a to-do list
- Clean a toilet (I hate to clean, I suck at it - I need all the help I can get)
- Set goals

I'm sorry, I still don't understand how to fold a fitted sheet. ( )

When the weight of your "to do", "should do" "must do" list becomes overwhelming, don't give up. Instead of looking at the overall picture as one big responsibility, do what you can do--when you can do it. Learning to handle day-to-day life issues with confidence instead of panic is essential in today's world. Author Erin Zammett Ruddy offers "The Little Book of Life Skills: Deal with Dinner, Manage Your Email, Make a Graceful Exit, and 152 Other Expert Tricks"--a guide to practical problem solving that is filled with humor and personal insights. The chapters include: "Wake Up and Get Ready for the Day"; "Get from Point A to Point B"; "Work Smarter"; "Have a Productive Work Day"; "Get Organized at Home"; "Make Chores Easier"; "Clean Anything"; "Be Handy"; "Dinnertime"; "Hosting (and Guesting)"; "Self-Care"; "Up Your Personal Game"; "Up Your Interpersonal Game"; and "Finish the Day Strong". Each of the more than 150 "issues" begins with positive actions to help resolve the matter, and is then linked to an expert and explained in common-sense detail. Sometimes, you'll find a bonus tidbit of extra helpful information. The randomness of the wide range of topics is part of the fun. I laughed, and I learned.
