A Wall Street Journal bestseller. In bestselling author T L Swan's second hot installment to the Miles High Club series, he's sexy, rich, and her mortal enemy. Hate never felt so good. I first met Tristan Miles at a meeting where he was trying to take over my late husband's company. He was powerful, arrogant, and infuriatingly gorgeous, and I hated him with every cell in my body. In the shock of the century, he called me three days later and asked me on a date. I would rather die than date a man like him--though I do have to admit it was good for the ego. Turning him down was the highlight of my year. Six months later, he was the guest speaker at a conference I attended in France. Still arrogant and infuriating--but this time, surprisingly charming and witty. When he looked at me, I got butterflies. But I can't go there. He's just a player in a hot suit, and I'm just a widow with three unruly sons. I just need this conference to be over. Because everybody knows that Tristan Miles always gets what he wants...and what he wants is me.… (más)

I loved this book! It had everything I wanted, a found family! Sismance, Bromance, Cute kids, a take-no-shit female lead, a dirty talker, hard as nails but softer than fluff male lead, HOT scenes. I absolutely loved it.
Read it if the above is your jam, you won't be disappointed :)

Thanks so much to Netgalley for the ARC, I am off to read T.L. Swan's backlog ( )

Very much enjoyed The Stopover, Book 1 in this series. Could not finish this one. I really tried. I DNF fairly often but usually it's within the first 15-20%. I made it to 39% on this one, but it just made me too anxious. Claire is one of the most annoying characters ever. And her children! Totally out of control. Her interactions with her kids is one of the reasons she aggravated me so much. Good lord, couldn't SOMEONE act like an adult? Do not understand why a man like Tristan would even remotely be interested in her after meeting her family. Bad enough that they acted like slobs and left shoes, toys, bikes, etc. everywhere, but the incident with Claire's son trying to stuff underwear into Tristan's mouth was too over the top to be even remotely entertaining. Cringeworthy!
I'm normally unphased by language, but 423 uses of the F*** word in a 474 page book is ridiculous. And the kids used it as much as the adults. Just tacky (and another missed opportunity to take control of the kids).

Claire is a widower with three sons and Tristan is a billionaire media mogul. He wants to buy her company and she isn't selling. He's actually interested in her and she thinks he's too good to be true. The book was OK but Claire clings to her status of widower and still wears her wedding ring after 5 years! Tristan is thrown for a loop because he actually likes her and she's nothing like anyone he's ever dated. They have a good banter between them and start a fling Things happen as he's falling for her and she just can't let go of her dead husband and uses her three sons as a crutch. The selfishness and whining of Claire made her being completely unlikable (if she's so body conscious from having kids maybe she should exercise) and her preconceived notions about Tristan she kept holding onto even though he was proving her wrong were irritating. Tristan was somewhat likable as he was charming and actually likes Claire and tries to get to know her children for a long run relationship. Drama ensues and a whole lot of sex. I found the characters irritating and somewhat shallow and needing to move on from the past. ( )

I read the first book in this series and had this second book on my to-read list since finishing that one. I love the details that the author provides and how you are drawn into the characters. Claire Anderson first meets Tristian Miles when he tries to buy her late husband's company that she is currently trying to keep afloat. As the twists and turns of the book, these two end up together and all that comes along with a single, man trying to find his place with a widow and her children. The growth of Tristian throughout the book was welcome and the happy ending is always a plus. Wonderful book and I look forward to reading this author's books in the future. ( )

The takeover by T. L. Swan

The book was provided to me for an honest review by NetGalley

In the book, we read about the story of Claire Anderson. A widow with three sons – Fletch, Harry, and Patrick. She can’t accept the death of her husband, so her PA recommends to her going to a creative seminar. Where she sees her enemy – Tristan Miles, an heir of a big media company. The thing with them is that he destroys smalls and dying companies and made them his and that almost happened with her firm.

So we can see their relationship evolve. During the seminar and the time after it, from enemies to friends, to lovers, to something more.

The first few chapters were really badly written, I don’t know if that’s the editor’s problem, but I really didn’t like them. The thing is the book really gets better, and I almost had no more problems with the writing (a few things here and there, at the end).

Again at the beginning, it looked like I read this book from Wattpad, but with the progression and that’s getting better.

The characters:

I’m gonna start with the hero – Tristan “soul-sucking bastard” Miles. And I just gonna say I abso-bloody-lutely loved this character. He was perfect in every aspect. He was cold and dark at the beginning, but with every read chapter, he got cuter and cuter. He was caring, nice and kind, beautiful, hot, dirty, charming. And he definitely is every women’s dream. So I can’t say anything bad for him.

But now we turn our sigh to our heroine – Claire Anderson. And I rarely say that I hate a character, but I truly and deeply hate her, like almost despise her. There were only a few things I liked about her - that she was fun, and made Tristan happy, but I hated everything other than that.

In my opinion, she was a bad mother, because her kids were awful. Like truly monsters (at the beginning). She changed her mind like three years old, and she was way too annoying. I just couldn’t stand her. And the last three chapters made me hate her even more (And I’m not even gonna start talking about her selfishness).

I know people will talk about how her children were this way because they lost their father, but they just lacked discipline and trust (and I’m sure you know what I’m talking about). And while all she was talking about was how her children didn’t have a father figure when Tristan purposed to adopt them, she fucking broke up with him.

The plot twist was really unexpected, I suspected that there was going to be a scandal, but what it turned out to be was just shocking Especially after what Tristan did for her .

Heroine - 1/6
Hero - 6/6
Plot Twist - 4/6
Ending - 5/6
Storyline - 4.5/6
