I'll feel a little guilty about it--there's a sameness about the series, there's not a lot of diversity, no queer characters, little deviation from traditional gender roles, etc etc. But I still love reading them. They're not deep, they're not earth changing, I don't breathlessly recommend them to my friends. But they're fun, and some days fun is the most important thing. I always enjoy reading them, even if i am never surprised by them. Wolf Under Fire by Paige Tyler Paranormal shifter romantic suspense. 1st book in the Spin-off of the SWAT series (Special Wolf Assessment Team). Wolf shifters law enforcement goes international. Can be read as a stand-alone. STAT Agent (Special Threat Assessment Team) Jake Huang joins his new team and pack in London to investigate supernatural killings. STAT agent Jes Ridley doesn’t know what killed her teammates, but it wasn’t human and neither is Jake. Trust will have to be earned within her new team mixed of humans and werewolves. A fast moving, easy read with non-stop adventure. Full of action, espionage and hot sex, this new team is dynamic and smart. I enjoyed the action, the beginning friendships and learning the special characteristics of the team. Finding The One makes these romances uplifting and hopeful. Excerpt: “There probably wasn’t a werewolf out there in the world who didn’t know the legend of The One—the thought that Jes might be his had never entered his mind. Seriously, how could she be? Soul mates were supposed to be a one-in-a-million thing. Maybe even one in a billion. “You’ve heard wolves mate for life, right?” Caleb asked Forrest. When the guy nodded, he continued, “Well, in some ways, werewolves do the same thing. There’s supposed to be one perfect person out there for each of us who we’re meant to be with forever. When a werewolf meets his or her soul mate, it’s supposed to be like catching lightning in a bottle.” “Soul mates. Wow,” Forrest breathed. “I mean, Misty and I are solid, but I made a lot of dumb mistakes when we first started dating. Would have been nice to know we’re soul mates the moment we met.” “You’d think so,” Caleb agreed with a snort. “But for some reason, Jake is too busy swimming around in that river in Egypt to notice what’s right in front of him.” Excerpt from Wolf Under Fire by Paige Tyler I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share. 2.5/5 stars! I was looking forward to this book, but was disappointed at some points of the story. Firstly, the heroine made some comments that irked me near the beginning, even though her tune changed later in the story. A minor point that I wasn't particularly fond of was when the hero didn't feel like a leader until said mission was in progress. Lastly, I didn't feel that the transition from acquaintance to lovers wasn't smooth in my eyes. The best parts of this book included the comprehensive werewolf pack aspect that Ms. Tyler is known for. I also liked the set of characters that encompass as the team or "pack" of this story. Even though some parts were predictable, I found the overall plot enjoyable and the set of supernatural beings intriguing. Though this particular book was not my favorite of Ms. Tyler's books, I will read future additions from this series because of the general plot and Ms. Tyler's writing. I do think there are some characters that needs their own books in the future. **Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy.** sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
