This was different than I expected. The author was right in giving her warnings that this was not a lighthearted read. I struggled with certain aspects of the book, not the dark parts because I had been warned, but in the transitions. They took me out of the story quite a few times as I tried to piece together what had happened.

I still enjoy this author immensely but this was not my favorite. Initially, years ago when I first read this I had marked it 4 stars. However, rereading this as part of the boxset I have found that I didn't enjoy it as much.

Trust in Me

I had forgotten that I had read this book years ago, long before I knew the importance of reviews. I reread this as part of the Dark Nights boxset. It is still as dark and sad as it was the first time. There is a reason that the author gives a warning. The hardest part of this story is that it felt as if it could be something, and most likely is, that could happen. It is proof that there are some vile humans in the world and that not all monsters are imaginary.

Don't Let Go

I was worried going into this book that it wouldn't live up to my expectations. I had heard many mixed reviews on it. I needn't have worried because this finally tied everything together and gave me the conclusion that I had wanted in regards to seeing Carlos get his due. However, I was not expecting that this book would not only answer all my questions, some I didn't even know I had, but that it would come with a major twist.

The first part of the book, I struggled with in regards to making the connection between the characters. However, once Carlos came into the story again, it all synced together. I finally had a connection and from there until the ending, I was enthralled. ( )
