I hadn't realized the origins of the song "Hang on Sloopy" or that it was a mainstay for The Ohio State University's marching band.
The first 5 chapters read pretty quickly, then chapters 6-11 kind of bogged down for me. Chapter 12 was interesting (and I learned how Don Webster came to Cleveland. I knew him mostly from television news and Academic Challenge.) Chapter 13 about the Rock Hall was interesting but some of the details about obtaining the financing and the struggles over where to locate it got a bit tedious for me.
All in all, I discovered that Ohio has a rich musical history that I now appreciate more than I did before reading this book. ( )
