The book has beautiful pictures with a short introduction into the history of soap making, precise instructions on how to safely make soap, some detailed short introduction on milled soap and beautiful soap recipes. Although, the instructions on how to make soap are very detailed I would not recommend it to a beginner soap maker. There is not much information on the different types of fats, oils and essential oils and their effects on the skin, which is in my opinion an essential and necessary needed knowledge before starting to meddle in natural cosmetics. Introducing the art of making soap, this guide offers easy-to-follow instructions and photographs to inspire the reader. There is guidance on tools and equipment, materials and ingredients and safety procedures. Find out how to use moulds for a host of effects and how to choose pure and natural ingredients for different uses, such as goat's milk and almond soap for moisturising and cinnamon seed soap for exfoliation. There are also soaps for utter self-indulgence: relax with lavender oil soap, revive with spicy clove soap, or luxuriate with frankincense and myrrh soap. Whether you want to produce beautiful gifts, or simply make natural soaps for you and your family, this age-old craft makes the perfect rewarding hobby.
