In this irresistibly-priced short story, catch a glimpse of the inner struggles and triumphs that drive Stalking Jack the Ripper's endearing but troubled hero. Enigmatic, brooding, and darkly handsome, Thomas Cresswell has always been the one mystery Audrey Rose has never been able to fully solve. As brilliant partners in crime investigation, they understand each other perfectly...but as young lovers, their passionate natures have led to both euphoria and heartbreak throughout the Stalking Jack the Ripper series. This novella features a collection of scenes that takes place during and after the pair's horrifying Atlantic voyage in Escaping From Houdini. Experience new and familiar scenes from Thomas's unique point of view, including an intensely personal look into his plea for Audrey Rose's hand in marriage. With a romance for the ages, Audrey Rose and Thomas reach the conclusion to their epic, irresistible partnership in their final adventure, Capturing the Devil.… (más)

I was excited to start off this book as one is in the SJTR series and two, it features Thomas, a prominent character in the series. However, I was quite disappointed with this.
It was a very meh read and to me, I feel like this was made just to get more money from the readers.
I understand it is a novella and obviously, they aren't going to be as long as proper novels but still, novellas can still bring things to the table and I don't if this did. Did it really add anything to the SJTR series? No, I don't believe so.

Maybe since it takes place between book 3 and 4 was a key reason because I really didn't like book 3.
Also, the book was just Thomas being very insecure and watching through his eyes when it comes to some of Audrey Rose's actions or words made me upset.

Still, it had Thomas in here and his POV.
There's so much more negative than positive though.
Also, you fly through it like its nothing, there's not even 80 pages

(Read my short review on the whole series here)

What a lovely novella! Taking place between [b:Escaping from Houdini|30375937|Escaping from Houdini (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #3)|Kerri Maniscalco|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1516896737l/30375937._SX50_.jpg|50890360] and [b:Capturing the Devil|37539001|Capturing the Devil (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #4)|Kerri Maniscalco|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1556550359l/37539001._SX50_.jpg|59140681], this novella sheds new light on the event of RMS Etruria and Thomas’s inner struggles. Through this short story, I understand how strongly he feels and how much pain that costs him. I see how much he and Audrey Rose grow through the chaos of the Moonlight Carnival, and it couldn’t have been more encouraging.

On a side note, there are some small references to later events, so it would be best if you read this before Capturing the Devil. However, you could also fully understand book 4 without reading Becoming the Dark Prince first (like I did). This novella, like most, isn’t crucial to the series, but it would be a must read (and a great one!) for Cresswell fans. ( )

I hope Thomas Cresswell is doing well, it must be very hard to carry the whole series on his shoulders. ( )
