This wasn't good but what did I expect?
I kind of feel bad for rating it low because it's precisely what one would expect from the cover, the fonts and the title. Really, the joke's on me for picking it up fully aware.
I just got it for the hell of it and there wasn't any point that was particularly bad to motivate me to drop it.
It's extremely cheesy, there is lots of sex, it's sometimes funny but less in a knee-slapper and more in a smile kind of way and the pacing is kind of weird.
There are lots of genre typical book sins but I guess because I never developed any expectations, (because of a brilliant first chapter or something) there really wasn't any disappointment.
The mythology is just loosely oriented on real ones afaict but it successfully imitates the typical old mythology weirdness.
I think there were lots of ideas and plans that didn't make it into the book beyond some minor artefacts of them.
A small detail I appreciated was how realistic killing was depicted. No "one sword swipe, instant death" which really surprised me especially in this kind of book.
But sadly that clashed badly with the rest of of the plot and never actually had any relevance.
I would only recommend this book if you don't expect too much and just want to pass some time. (
