I have been listening to this series for awhile now, and since book 1. This is the 4th book in this series set in 1923 in England. Olive Belgrave is an appealing character, and I always love to revisit her and her life. Things have moved on a bit with her relationship with Jasper since the last book, but they still have not acknowledged how they feel about each other. Olive is asked by her cousin Gwen to attend a house party at her family home. When Olive arrives, the stage has already been set for murder. A guest at the house for the party is found dead by the fountain in the conservatory. Who wanted to kill the map seller? That is what Olive needs to know, especially when suspicion falls on Gwen's brother Peter who is suffering from "shell shock" from WWI where he served. Olive and Jasper dig deeper into the history of the murder victim until they uncover a few viable suspects. So, again at great risk to herself, Olive unmasks the murderer, and everything is again set in order. I know this sounds cliche, but these books are totally delightful. I love the characters, especially plucky Olive, and when I finish one I can't wait to move on to the next. ( )

An enjoyable, quick read, perfect for an airport/airplane travel book. Olive Belgrave is a strong female protagonist although sometimes her choices in the face of an unknown murderer are a bit chancy. For my tastes, I found the maps dealer a bit of an anomaly as a guest at a high society residence. Alfred as a fiancé of Olive's cousin was also a stretch. The twists at the end in solving the murder were unexpected and Rosett did an excellent job in developing the characters. I'm particularly fond of her character, Jasper. ( )

Olive Belgrave is happy to visit the home of her cousins for a house party; the guests include some old friends of hers and a few people who are new to her. When one of the guests, a rather pushy man who is selling signed antique maps, is found dead in the conservatory, suspicion quickly falls on Olive’s cousin Peter, a World War I veteran who is suffering from psychological injuries sustained in the war. Olive is sure that he cannot have committed murder, and she must race to find evidence pointing to another killer before the police charge Peter with the crime…. This fourth novel in the High Society Lady Detective series hits close to home for Olive, as not only are her cousins intimately involved, but her own stepmother has significant reasons to be suspected. As with the earlier books, this story is fast-paced, the tone is breezy and the characters are appealing (or appalling, in some cases); recommended for a fast, light, cozy read. ( )

Olive is headed to a house party at Parkview Hall, the home of her friend, Gwen, and there’s a murder. Plenty of suspects (even her stepmother) since the murder appears to relate to an incident that happened during the war when Parkview was used as a hospital for wounded soldiers. With the help of Gwen and Olive’s sort of boyfriend Jasper, they discover the evidence needed before there’s another murder. ( )
