A seductive thief

Lady's maid Molly Wilkins is done with thieving??and cheating and stabbing and all the rest of it. She's determined to keep her hands to herself, so she really shouldn't be tempted to seduce her employer's prim and proper companion, Alice. But how can she resist when Alice can't seem to keep her eyes off Molly?

Finds her own heart

For the first time in her life, Alice Stapleton has absolutely nothing to do. The only thing that seems to occupy her thoughts is a lady's maid with a sharp tongue and a beautiful mouth. Her determination to know Molly's secrets has her behaving in ways she never imagined as she begins to fall for the impertinent woman.

Queer! Women! Doing! Crimes!

This novella basically functioned as competence porn for me, with two independent women quickly dispatching all the problems of patriarchy and the British class system in one fell swoop. I really enjoyed that this was a story about the dignity of labor, not in a bootstrap-y way but in a women-getting-stuff-done way.

As a romance, it wasn't quite what I was looking for - I always prefer slow fraught emotion over easy resolution, so perhaps the novella pacing just didn't suit me. But Alice and Molly were super cute, and I'm rooting for Sebastian to write a full-length f/f romance.

I am desperate to know more about Mrs. Wraxhall, who is the quiet fairy godmother of this piece. Characters with alcoholism are so often villains in historical romance, so it was refreshing to have "husband in rehab" as a background note. I could really go for an estranged-to-lovers romance about these two!

Really loved this novella. It’s the first writing by Cat Sebastian I’ve read and I can’t wait to read more. Characters were so well written. ( )

I'm a big fan of M/F and M/M stories, but wasn't sure if I would as big of a fan of F/F ones. The steam wasn't as interesting to me, but, I ended up quite liking both of the heroines and was very pleased with their HEA. So 4 stars anyway. ( )

Lovely, fluffy romance — sweet relationship between two women who’ve had a hard run. Particularly enjoy their willingness to bend the law as needed. Novella. ( )

Sweet little romance. I felt like Molly darted from "I shouldn't do anything more with her because this is a bad idea" to "I'm doing more with her" in the space of a few pages without a lot of thought put into the transition. I did really like this romance though, and I felt the ending was supremely satisfying, just the initial steps felt a little rushed to me. ( )
