CIA operative and US Embassy Officer Kaylea Halpert has been invited to a party at the home of a dangerous foreign national. As backup, she invites Special Forces Sergeant Carlos Espinosa to be her date. After spending the night together, Carlos is taken from the parking lot of her apartment. He overhears his kidnappers talking about a weapons shipment that they are going to hijack and use his military background as a way to put the blame on the US, but Kaylea witnesses the kidnapping and in helping Carlos escape, they decide to track the weapons shipment and gain intel that can be used to prove the conspiracy.

Inferno suffers from the same issues as all novellas, it is just too short to give the romance and plot time to develop in a way that seems natural. Also, the conspiracy is discovered much too quickly for it to seem realistic. Overall, however, this is a fast paced read that provides brief enjoyment. ( )
