A useful little text explaining Kalachakra within the context of Vajrayana as practiced in Tibet. The first chapter alone is a gem - providing a concise yet incredibly complete overview of Tibetan Buddhist practice. ( )

Buddhism is a vast and diverse religious tradition, but whether the image of the Buddha that we conjure is a delicate sandstone carving from Sarnath, the great bronze statue at Kamakura, or a weather-worn volcanic rock sculpture from Borobudun, the features are likely to be the same: the meditation posture, the finely draped robes, the crown protuberance, the separately curled hairs, the pendant earlobes, the eyes neither quite open nor quite closed, and, above all, the smile--that elusive half-smile that suggests at once personal satisfaction in the transcendance of worldly suffering and compassion for beings still mired in the round of unwanted rebirths that is cyclic existence.
Foreword: The notion and sense of "I" is a mere projection on the four or five psychophysical aggregates which make up the person.
