This book doesn't seem to have anything going for it beyond the clever title and a sort of tip of the hat to Clifford the Big Red Dog. ( ) The island of Myth-Hattan is an interesting place, full of hybrid creatures (and puns). When Tess' adoptive parents bring her home, it soon becomes clear that she is a giant! All Tess wants is to fit in, but when her attempt to help prepare for the parade goes wrong, she flees into "Centaur Park" - where she finds a dragon with a thorn in its foot. She removes the thorn and they become best friends (and a good size match). Together, they rescue the mayor when he blows away attached to a parade balloon, and at last they are welcomed into the parade. Somewhat unrealistically, "Tess never felt she was too big ever again" - but the book is delightful anyway, from the clever maps on the endpapers to charming, kind Tess, and the twist on the classic lion-and-mouse story. * Re-read multiple times, including January 2022 sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
Being the only giant around, Tess wants more than anything to be like everyone else, but when she and Smokey, her dragon best friend, use their height to help save the big parade, Tess suddenly realizes that she is just the right size. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
