Chasing Good Sense consists of Homer McCarty's reminiscences of his childhood growing up in a Mormon village near Cedar City, Utah, in the 1870s. It is likely to appeal to those who have a warm spot in their heart for Southern Utah and the culture that prevails there.

McCarty endeavors to write with the mindset and the vocabulary of the child he was back then, and this might knock the book down a notch or two for those who don't appreciate this stylistic choice. For them, I strongly recommend the writings of Ed Geary, who wrote one of this book's blurbs. Both The Proper Edge of the Sky and Goodbye to Poplarhaven are masterpieces. ( )
